food

day 3 – beijing.

I finally figured out where I am. I’m 2 city blocks down from Tiananmen Square. So, that’s where I went today. It’s really big.

I’ve been doing so much better about taking pictures of food. That is, you realize, the most important part of any kind of traveling-related photography. Here’s lunch that I picked up around the corner for 50 cents:

Then, for dinner, we went down to Wangfujing and this is what I had for dinner. It costed $8 for the both of us to stuff ourselves. That’s right, be jealous of my shao long bao.

More to come soon.

prepare yourself…

…for George’s 5-week stint back to the motherland. No, not Monterey Park. No, not even Taiwan. The REAL motherland. (That’s China, for those of you who rode the short bus to school growing up.)

Armed with lao wai Chinese skills, an insatiable appetite for knockoffs, the uncanny ability to eat anything (except surprisingly, chicken feet), and my Powershot – georgechang.net, barring any interference from the internet-hating Communists, will be my photo journal for the next month.

Dear brainwashed Mao followers: georgechang.net is Red China friendly. I know you’re reading this. So don’t block this from me.

real love is…

4 half gallons of Blue Bell ice cream overnighted directly from the factory in Brenham, Texas.

Thanks Weesh and Abi.

uh oh.

We’ve got a big problem.

So I had this craving for ice cream the other day, and I realized that I can’t find Blue Bell ice cream anywhere.

I just figured that since it was such delicious ice cream, it was sold out or something.

So I decided to look up a place in California that sold it.

And this is what I found:

THEY DON’T SELL BLUE BELL ICE CREAM IN CALIFORNIA.  WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PLACE?

It’s going to be a long summer.

people of atlanta, rejoice.

First there came Fatburger.

Then there was Ikea.

Soon…
Trader Joe’s.

Now all we need is a Lee’s Sandwiches and an In-N-Out!

And maybe a Sam Woo.
